2019-2020 Program Year
Fourth Salon Event: Low Pressure Public Performance Practice
August 24, 2019 at 1 p.m.
Back in the time of Mendelssohn, friends would often gather for "salons" to play music in a casual setting and enjoy each other's company. We're bringing that tradition back with our series of salons for beginner to intermediate level organists. If you've got some pieces you would like practice performing in front of a friendly audience and you're interested in trying out different organs, but you aren't yet comfortable performing in a recital setting, then this event is for you!
We'll each get to spend some time at the organ setting up registrations, playing our pieces for each other, and and enjoying the company of our fellow organists. Pieces could range from a postlude you're working on to just playing through a hymn or two.
This salon will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church
415 El Camino Real, Burlingame

1929 Skinner, 2 manuals -- completely rebuilt by Edward Millington Stout, III seven years ago
If you're interested, please RSVP to Fjord cghawthorne@gmail.com so he can get an idea of how many people to expect. But please feel free to come, even if you don't RSVP!
St. Paul's is fortunate to have a 20 note set of Deagan Chimes www.deagan.com/ built in 1926 and installed in St. Paul's in 1937. Arrive early, five minutes to one o'clock to hear the Change Ringing of six of the twenty notes "Plain Bob Minor" played by James Martin. Then the Westminster roll will ring out the one o'clock hour for the Salon to begin. Toward the end of the Salon, James will give us a tour of the tower and chimes at the two o'clock toll. You can be real close to the chimes with your ears covered to watch and hear the Deagan sound off.
