
Young Organists — You could win a free one-year membership to our chapter!
The Palo Alto/Peninsula chapter of the American Guild of Organists is hosting a scholarship competition. Local organ students from middle school to college-age are asked to submit a creative work in response to an organ piece. There will be three age groups, and one scholarship will be awarded to the most exceptional entry from each group. The winning entries will also be featured in our newsletter!
Age Groups and Submission Requirements

Ages 8-13
Please listen and respond to The Flight of the Hummingbird by Rachel Laurin.

Ages 14-18
Please listen and respond to Hymne Au Soliel (Hymn to the Sun) by Louis Vierne.

Ages 19-29
Please listen and respond to Everyone Dance, Dance No. 5 from Five Dances for Organ by Calvin Hampton.
All entries should take one of the following forms:
1. An Essay
This essay can be academic or creative. Students under 14 must write no more than 250 words. Students 14 and over must write no more than 500 words.
2. A poem
3. A work of art
Any artistic medium is accepted, but the finished work must be submitted virtually.
Submissions are due September 10th.
